RMC Ministries in South Sudan and Uganda: Building hope and independence
RMC Ministries in South Sudan and Uganda: Building hope and independence
Years of conflict have affected millions of families in South Sudan and neighboring communities. In response to these pressing needs, RMC Ministries actively serves communities across Eastern Equatoria State and northern Uganda refugee camps through education, humanitarian support, and sharing the Gospel. By integrating quality education, clean water infrastructure, medical relief, and Christian broadcasting, the organization helps families meet urgent needs while creating opportunities for a more independent future.
Education and vocational training at F.I.S.H. Academy
At the center of educational outreach is F.I.S.H. Academy Nimule, a Christian secondary boarding school that also offers vocational training. South Sudan’s public education system charges tuition fees that exclude thousands of impoverished children, leaving boys vulnerable to armed conflict and girls exposed to forced marriage.
F.I.S.H. Academy helps students overcome these challenges. Academically, the school ranks second in the state, preparing students for national examinations across South Sudan, Uganda, and Kenya. The campus features a modern computer lab equipped with Windows 10 and 11, supported by 1,000 Windows licenses and 500 Microsoft Office licenses donated by Microsoft. Students also gain hands-on training in poultry management under Mr. Warran Abraham, piggery husbandry, vegetable farming, and tailoring.
The school’s results show the impact of these programs. Active enrollment reached 249 students, with young women accounting for 199 (80%) of the student body. In December 2025, 79 students graduated with certified training in ICT, entrepreneurship, and poultry farming. Ongoing campus infrastructure includes an operational motorized borehole providing safe drinking water. Planned projects focus on building new dormitories for 100 students on the waiting list, constructing an indoor kitchen for 400 students and staff, and acquiring adjacent land for future growth.
Giving women a voice: Protecting girls through education
In local culture, traditional beliefs often treat young women as financial assets through dowry sales and forced marriages. Dowries can range from 30 to 80 cows, placing immense economic pressure on families and denying young girls the right to study.
Through the Giving Women a Voice project, RMC Ministries offers a safe, practical alternative for at-risk girls. The project provides full academic scholarships to F.I.S.H. Academy alongside safe, on-campus dormitory housing. Secure boarding protects young women from early marriage while allowing them to focus on education and spiritual character building.
The project has already helped hundreds of young women. From 2021 through 2025, 325 vulnerable young women completed high school on full scholarships. Dedicated scholarships have also supported girls traveling from remote regions like the Nuba Mountains. Graduates receive vocational training in entrepreneurship, ICT, and agriculture, with top alumni hired as librarians, farm managers, and radio presenters. To shelter more young women seeking protection, RMC Ministries is actively seeking funding for dormitory expansion.
Imprint radio 101.5 FM: Reaching South Sudan and Uganda
Many families live far from churches and essential services. To reach these communities, Imprint Radio 101.5 FM broadcasts daily faith-based programming under the theme “Teach for Jesus Christ”. The station airs 16 to 17 hours daily and streams online 24/7, offering biblical teaching, worship, and trauma counseling.
Supported by CMML, RMC Ministries completed a 75-meter radio tower expanding coverage to 1.8 million refugees and residents across Eastern Equatoria State and refugee ministry Uganda locations in northern refugee camps. Partnering with Galcom, the ministry distributed 3,000 solar-powered radios pre-programmed with nine audio Bible translations to ten remote villages and refugee camps like Pagirinya, Majii, and Boroli. Two new 10KVA lithium batteries stabilized power and reduced monthly generator fuel costs from $800 to $600.
Imprint Radio also connects listeners with practical support. In three months, presenters answered 2,520 live calls and prayed over 720 requests. Presenters also partner with Nimule Hospital doctors every Sunday to broadcast health education on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and preventing gender-based violence. A mobile crisis team provides immediate counseling and transportation for caller emergencies. Planned projects include completing construction on the new radio facility while maintaining the $27,000 annual operational budget.
Humanitarian Aid, healthcare, and clean water
RMC Ministries provides Christian humanitarian aid in South Sudan. Severe government budget deficits leave inmates and patients in Nimule without basic food and hygiene supplies.
Through the South Sudan Project, team members conduct devotions and discipleship at Nimule Prison every Sunday and Wednesday. RMC Ministries provides quarterly deliveries of flour, beans, cooking oil, salt, and soap to sustain prisoners. In July 2026 alone, the team served over 356 inmates, building on prior outreach that reached over 900 prisoners. Thursday visits to Nimule Hospital bring prayer, soap, and sugar to hundreds of patients, including 650 individuals encouraged in July 2026.
The ministry also addresses community water needs. RMC Ministries completed two clean water wells South Sudan projects, including a motorized borehole at the school property. Planned water infrastructure includes drilling 13 additional wells and completing a reservoir system on a new 10-hectare campus. Furthermore, the Community Computer Center at the FRM compound has trained and graduated over 80 local youth in practical digital skills.
